Accessibility standards enable persons using assistive technologies, such as screen readers, to access the same information in an equivalent form as persons who do not use such tools. The most complete accessibility standard is Section 508, which applies Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility requirements to web-based information made available to the federal government. Taking Section 508 into consideration throughout the custom courseware development process allows the Karta team to continue to develop sensory rich training without lessening the training experience for users who need assistive technologies.
